Host Institution: Prof.Andrea Zini, Department of Neurology and Stroke Unit at the Maggiore Hospital, IRCCS Istituto delle Scienze Neurologiche di Bologna, Italy, from 1 June to 3 July 2023
I am extremely grateful to the European Stroke Organisation and the Stroke / Neurology team at IRCCS Istituto delle Scienze Neurologiche di Bologna, especially Prof. Andrea Zini, for the opportunity to visit their department in June 2023.
It was a very important achievement for me. During that time, I not only got acquainted with the work of doctors, but also gained new knowledge in the field of neurosonology.
The department was equipped with all the necessary and modern technologies, and the most important thing was the huge team of neurologists, neuroradiologists, nurses, rehabilitators and many other doctors.
All worked for the benefit of the patient using the slogan Time Is Brain.
During that period the number of patients admitted in the Stroke Unit Department was more than 70, among them some were treated with intravenous thrombolysis and /or mechanical thrombectomy.
As I mentioned before, studying neurosonology was very important to me. I thank the whole team for explaining neurosonology to me in detail and giving me the opportunity to independently perform intracranial and extracranial ultrasound, balloon examination during that one month. I know there is still a lot of knowledge to acquire in order to perform a more skilled ultrasound examination, but thanks to this knowledge acquired in Italy, I will be able to learn Neurosonology faster and easier.
Within the scope of this program I not only obtained hands-on skills and up-to-date knowledge, but associated with other great minds, enhanced my professional network, gained a lot of my friends and travelled to several cities in Italy which was an eye-opening experience for me.
With many thanks
Yours sincerely
Dr. Ani Kesoyan
