ESO encourages collaboration and knowledge exchange to drive progress in stroke research across Europe. Together, we can drive progress, connect experts, and make a lasting impact across Europe.
We invite interested consortia to submit a collaboration request to esoinfo@eso-stroke.org.
Eligibility Criteria
- The consortium must be stroke-focused or have a significant stroke-related component.
- Consortia should be based in countries affiliated with ESO.
- The project must be applying for funding external to ESO, such as Horizon Europe, Innovative Health Initiative, or other funding mechanisms.
- Consortia are advised to reach out to ESO as soon as the proposal development begins.
- ESO must be recognised as a partner in the consortium, and (depending on the activities during the project) will determine the required budget for involvement.
Research Ethics
Terms and Conditions
Collaboration will be considered based on ESO’s capacity and the alignment of the project with our mission.
ESO upholds the highest standards of research integrity and expects its partners to adhere to these principles, ensuring compliance with ethical guidelines.
Programme Overview
The program aims to be a prestigious recognition awarded to outstanding applicants from across Europe. While open to all ESO members, it is expected that at least one candidate from an ESO EAST country will be selected annually, on condition that received applications are to a required standard on review by the Oversight Committee. Financial support will be provided to all participants to complete the program requirements.
Each year, two spots will be available, and the program will span a three-year period. Participants will be paired with an ESO-affiliated sponsor and mentor.
Upon completion of the program, participants will receive a Certificate presented by the ESO President during the Presidential session at the ESO conference. Participants will take on leadership roles within their peer group, establishing networks, creating new educational opportunities, and actively engaging with ESO itself by serving as members of ESO committees and organizing bodies.
WHO SHOULD APPLY?
Selection criteria:
- Young professionals occupying a training grade post with a focus on stroke (clinical post or engaged in a stroke-related PhD, Masters, or equivalent program)
- Applicants should be fluent in English and under the age of 40
- Applicants must be ESO members (stroke professionals under 35 years old can become a Junior Member for free here)
- Should come from an ESO-affiliated country
The programme will select two candidates per year, with one of the places specifically reserved for participants from an ESO EAST country. This ensures representation and opportunities for individuals from ESO EAST countries to benefit from the programme and contribute to stroke care advancements in their respective regions.
