Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to the European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC) 2026, which will take place in Maastricht, the Netherlands. As Europe’s leading forum for stroke research and clinical care, ESOC continues to unite the global stroke community to share the latest scientific developments and innovations in the field.

Strategically nestled in the continent’s geographic and intellectual heartland, Maastricht lies in the southern tip of the Netherlands. It has a rich Roman and medieval history, but nowadays, it is a vibrant and internationally oriented student city. In 1992, the Maastricht Treaty established the European Union, paved the way for the euro and created EU citizenship. Maastricht offers a perfect setting for ESOC to unite the stroke community.

More recently, Maastricht was one of the leading centres of the MrClean trial, an example of the longstanding tradition of excellence in neurological sciences in the Netherlands. Dutch institutions have played a central role in shaping evidence-based practices through collaborative, multicentre efforts, helping to refine our understanding of stroke mechanisms and optimise patient outcomes.
At ESOC 2026, we look forward to presenting a comprehensive scientific programme that encompasses cutting-edge research, emerging therapies, and real-world implementation in stroke prevention, treatment, imaging, and recovery. The conference will serve as a critical platform for multidisciplinary exchange, scientific debate, and professional growth.
