Acute ischaemic stroke is most often attributed to common vascular mechanisms; however, atypical causes should be considered when clinical or imaging findings are not fully explained.
In this episode of the Back to Bedside programme, Christian Boehme presents an unusual case in which stroke is the first manifestation of a systemic disease, highlighting the importance of maintaining a broad differential diagnosis in routine stroke practice. In many cases, careful history-taking and thorough general examination are key to identifying the underlying cause.
