Angels Initiative New Countries Meeting
On the 22nd of May, during the first day of ESOC 2019, the Angels Initiative New Countries Meeting took place from 15:30 – 17:00. Representatives from North Macedonia, Croatia, Georgia, Greece, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia and Lithuania gave a short presentation regarding the country situation, what has been organized since last year until now, what changes were implemented and what are the plans and next steps. The overall impression was that many things were improved since last year (higher rates of intravenous thrombolytic treatment, better communication, however, there are also Improve acute stroke treatment (shorten DTN time, increase dysphagia screening and rehabilitation assessment etc). As a general conclusion, the participants agreed that in order to improve the stroke care, we need to implement stroke care protocols, to create a stroke network, staff education, certification of stroke units and organization of audits and continuation of the data registry and analysis as well.
