Prof. Guillaume Turc has joined the Executive Committee as of 25 May 2023.
He is an accomplished stroke neurologist and a dedicated academic professional, recognised for his contributions in the field of neurology. He began his training in Paris, France, under the tutelage of Prof. Jean-Louis Mas.
As a clinical research fellow in the team of Prof. Heinrich Audebert at the Centre for Stroke Research Berlin (CSB), Prof. Turc played a crucial role in establishing the first mobile stroke unit programme in France, known as the ASPHALT randomised controlled trial.
Currently, he serves as Professor of Neurology at Sainte-Anne Hospital, Paris, and the Head of the Stroke Clinical Research Team at the Institute of Psychiatry and Neurosciences of Paris (INSERM). His key interests lie in clinical epidemiology, neuroimaging, biostatistics, and methodology, with research primarily focusing on predicting outcomes after reperfusion therapies and enhancing acute stroke management.
A long-standing enthusiast of the European Stroke Organisation (ESO), Prof. Turc has contributed significantly to the development of ESO Guidelines since 2014, as well as the initiation of the popular ESO Guideline Webinar series.
He was the recipient of the 2022 ESO Scientific Excellence Award, a testament to his contributions in the field and his drive to foster advancements in neurology and stroke research.
