The event is an annual meeting involving different professionals involved in caring for stroke patients, including stroke physicians (internal medicine and neurology), general practitioners (stroke prevension), rehabilitation doctors and physiotherapists, cardiologists, interventional neuroradiologists, neurosurgeons, stroke nurses and junior doctors. The focus is the different aspects of stroke care, from primary and secondary prevention to acute treatment and reabilitation. There are different types of presentations, including controversial topics (pros and cons sessions, where one expert advocates one side/treatment and the other expert argues against), difficult case discussions (involving different medical specialties), seminars and round tables focusing on specific issues. Attendants are stimulated to actively participate by televote. There are also sessions where original research is presented. Best presentations are awarded scholarships for fellowship training programmes in international centres.
