Enhancing Quality in Acute Stroke Care (QASC)

A project to implement and evaluate nurse-initiated evidence-based stroke care in Europe, to manage fever, hyperglycaemia and swallowing difficulties

The QASC project aims to implement and evaluate nurse-led, evidence-based stroke care across Europe, with a specific focus on improving the management of fever, hyperglycaemia, and swallowing difficulties.

Among other steps, encouraging hospitals across Europe to aspire after fulfilling the criteria for certification as ESO Stroke Unit or ESO Stroke Centre is one of the prioritized measures to reach this goal.

Among its key objectives, QASC encourages hospitals across Europe to work toward meeting the standards required for ESO Stroke Unit or ESO Stroke Centre certification – an important step toward achieving excellence in acute stroke care.
