Welcome to Portugal and to the ESO Stroke Summer School 2026. We are truly delighted to host you in Lisbon for a week dedicated to thoughtful discussion, hands-on learning, and practical clinical reasoning in stroke.

The Summer School is, above all, a meeting point for early-career clinicians and future stroke leaders from across Europe. We hope you will feel encouraged to ask questions, challenge assumptions, share your own experience, and connect openly with peers and faculty throughout the week.

Across the course, we will follow the full stroke pathway, from pre-hospital decision-making and hyperacute treatment to stroke unit care, secondary prevention, and rehabilitation. Sessions are designed to be highly interactive, combining case-based discussions, workshops, and focused lectures led by an outstanding international faculty, with a clear goal: to translate evidence into confident day-to-day clinical choices.

This year we meet at the AHED facilities in Carcavelos, a coastal area just outside Lisbon. With the Atlantic Ocean nearby, the venue offers a bright seaside setting and an inspiring backdrop for focused learning, meaningful discussion, and networking throughout the week.

Beyond the academic program, we hope you will take time to connect with colleagues from across Europe in a friendly, collaborative atmosphere.

We look forward to an outstanding week of learning, sharing, and building lasting professional relationships.
