THE ANGELS INITIATIVE
Our mission is simple. To increase the number of patients treated in stroke ready hospitals and to optimise the quality of treatment in all existing stroke centres. We are building a global community of stroke centres and stroke ready hospitals, working every day to improve the quality of treatment for every stroke patient. Support us in achieving this by joining the Angels Initiative to give life a chance.
STROKE CARE QUALITY ASSESSMENT
RES-Q
RES-Q is the international stroke care quality registry which was initiated as part of the ESO-EAST (European Stroke Organisation – Enhancing and Accelerating Stroke Treatment) to help all participating countries improve their stroke care system. The registry is now used worldwide. The registry is designed to capture the essential metrics for quality improvement for primary as well as comprehensive centres, while minimizing your workload for participation. RES-Q provides real time feedback through dashboards and reports. Hospitals registered and doing QM using RES-Q get to automatically participate in the ESO Angels Award program. For more information about RES-Q kindly visit
SITS
Alternatively the SITS quality registry protocol (SITS-QR) can be used by all SITS centers, including those participating in the ESO-Angels Award Programme.
ESO ANGELS AWARDS
The European Stroke Organisation strongly supports participation of stroke centres in quality improvement programmes in stroke care. The ESO Angels Awards is a quality improvement programme by the ESO that is supported by the Angels Initiative.
With the ESO Angels Awards, quality measures can be captured in either the RES-Q registry, the SITS-Quality Registry (SITS-QR) or in your National Registry if it has been approved by the ESO Angels Steering committee. Your participation in this quality improvement programme will be recognised by ESO. Based on your performance in the various measures your hospital may achieve Gold, Platinum or Diamond status and be acknowledged with a corresponding ESO Angels Award.
The ESO Angels Awards quality improvement programme is complementary to the ESO Certification Platform, the stroke care guidelines developed and published by ESO, and the educational activities coordinated by ESO.
CERTIFICATION
ESO is proud to present the new ESO Stroke Unit and Stroke Centre Certification Platform for European institutions. The certification platform was recently launched during the ESOC 2016 in Barcelona, Spain and is currently accepting applications for certification.
Certification is a key part of improving the quality of patient care by establishing a consistent approach to care, reducing the risk of error. Documenting the patient pathway provides a benchmark for quality, an objective assessment of clinical excellence, and an opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in your efforts to provide the highest quality service to your patients. European institutions can fill in detailed information about their own stroke unit or stroke centre on the ESO Certification Platform. The submission will be evaluated by Auditors, and will be included in a database.
