The European Stroke Organisation welcomes the submission of session proposals to support the selection of topics, chairs, and speakers for the scientific and educational programme of the 13th European Stroke Conference (ESOC), which will take place 19–21 May 2027 in Vienna, Austria.
Opening of Session Submission:
Monday, 11 May 2026, 00:01 CEST
Deadline for Submission of Session Proposals:
Thursday, 11 June 2026, 23:59 CEST
Please follow these criteria and procedures to help facilitate the process:
The submission form is brief, but structured. Following information will be requested:
– Title (up to 20 words)
– Session Description incl. a short summary on why this topic is important/of great significance. (up to 250 words)
– Learning Objectives (up to 150 words)
– Topic of Submission
– Main Target Groups
We kindly ask you to propose two chairs, and five speakers with suggested titles for their talks (up to 15 words) and ideally two alternative speakers (minimum information only required; speaker and chair approval is not required). Please note that at least three presentation titles and speakers must be entered, otherwise the proposal cannot be submitted. We kindly ask you to add a short comment to each speaker. This should include gender, career status (early, mid or late) and country and why this speaker is suitable for the presentation.
Much of the information is optional – therefore, it is not necessary to submit a ‘fully formed proposal’ – ESO is happy to accept all ideas, whether partial or more detailed.
- The duration of each session usually lasts 1.5 hours, including five talks, and – this is very important – time for questions and answers.
- Please submit proposals through the online system. We cannot accept proposals by any other method (Note: Joint Society Proposals with ESO are handled separately – see below).
- Please log in with your existing ESO account and choose ‘Session Submission’.
- Sessions must be submitted in English. Please use UK English spelling.
- We value diversity and inclusivity, so we encourage proposals that strive for a balance of male and female chairs and speakers, geographical representation, and various career stages. The submission form allows you to indicate if a speaker is “early career”. While you’re welcome to suggest yourself as a chair or speaker, please keep these points in mind. To assist with programme planning, please indicate which topic your proposal relates to.
ESO is very grateful to all its members for helping to shape the future of stroke science and education through submitting ideas for the 2027 programme.
Note:
While we appreciate all the suggestions that we’ve received, we want to be transparent about the fact that it’s not possible for us to provide feedback on why certain topics/speakers may or may not have been selected. But please don’t let that discourage you – we’re grateful for all the effort and passion that you’ve put into your proposals, and we’re working hard to create a programme that reflects the diversity and innovation of our community.
If you have suggestions for joint proposals between ESO and other societies, please submit them directly to the Conference Secretariat rather than through this portal. This will ensure that your ideas are given the attention they deserve and are considered in the appropriate context.
