ESOC Abstracts Published in European Stroke Journal

European Stroke Journal (ESJ), the official journal of the European Stroke Organisation is now well into its third volume.
Since its launch 329 papers from 44 countries have been submitted, 619 reviews have been completed by 248 individuals which has led to 102 articles being accepted for publication and subsequently downloaded almost 85,000 times.
The top submitting countries to date have been the UK, the Netherlands, USA, Germany and Sweden respectively, with the most papers being accepted from the UK, the Netherlands, Sweden, Canada and Spain.
From the outset a strong emphasis has been placed on the quality and speed of peer review. Currently first decisions are made on average 33 days after submission and final decisions within 50 days. Papers are published OnlineFirst on average within 17 working days from acceptance. ESJ is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics and all papers which proceed to peer review are reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers (including guidelines). Currently 35% of papers submitted are accepted for publication.
ESJ has recently been accepted for indexing in Clarivate Analytics: Emerging Sources Citation Indexhttp://wokinfo.com/products_tools/multidisciplinary/esci/ (ESCI) meaning that all papers are now indexed in the Web of Science and having passed an initial editorial evaluation ESJ can be considered for Impact Factor evaluation in the future. In the coming months we will be submitting ESJ for PubMed Central and Scopus evaluation.
There have been numerous technological developments on ESJ over the last 18 months, including:
- Migration to a new look website: http://journals.sagepub.com/home/eso
- Full integration with Publons, allowing reviewers to claim credit for their work
- All European Stroke Organisation members have been registered for Table of Contents alerts, allowing them to seamlessly keep up to date with the most up to date research from ESJ
- Integration with Figshare, improving the search capability and citation potential of supplementary data published in ESJ
